This was an exciting year in web site hosting up until the economy bust, then things started to slow down in web hosting but this year saw some interesting expansions in the industry including some of the biggest web hosting company acquisitions we have seen in a few years and the development of some key players in the web site hosting support, news and conferences area.

This Year Hostopia sold for $124 MM, iNet Interactive continued to expand their relevance in the web hosting market by acquiring HostingCon, the main web hosting conference for the web hosting industry. Some new Green Web Hosting companies started to move the foundations of web hosting to thinking about being green and the fact that the web hosting industry may be as bad of a polluter to the environment as the Airline industry by around somewhere like 2020. This is because of the expansion of the industry and the amount of power, coolers and servers needed to run the internet. So there are some interesting things happening in the industry.

Consumers in the web hosting industry we have found have become considerably more informed about what they will need and have become far more self reliant because of the great systems and video tutorials which are now available in control panels like cPanel.
